Fifteen years after the global financial crisis, chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced a raft of major reforms to the financial sector. Essentially undoing the regulation that was introduced to prevent the sort of risk-taking that led to banks having to be bailed out, it appeared to be an admission that the UK economy still relied heavily on financial services and pointed to an inevitable future crash.
