In the same week that non-MP David Cameron was made foreign secretary, the Supreme Court ruled that the government's plan to send refugees to Rwanda was illegal. This did not deter the Tories, who promptly announced emergency legislation to make it legal. Apparently Rwanda is now a safe place.

At the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, it was revealed that Boris Johnson’s former adviser, Dominic Cummings, had described the cabinet as "useless f*ck-pigs", "morons" and "c*nts". In a most entertaining testimony, Cummings also said that Johnson had asked scientific advisers if Covid could be destroyed by blowing a “special hairdryer” up the nose.

SNP MP Lisa Cameron defected to the Tories just hours before she was about to be deselected, having been at loggerheads with her party for years. She campaigned against the sale of council houses in the 2015 election before it was revealed that she rented out five such properties. At the start of this year she wrote to the Scottish Secretary asking him to intervene on the GRR Bill, which had passed comfortably in Holyrood.
