He refused to concede defeat to Democrat Joe Biden, accused whole states of illegality and threatened to overturn the result with recounts and lawyers. On the day Biden was declared winner, Trump tweeted "I won the election".

It was also reported that taxpayers paid £16,000 for Prince Andrew's private flight to a golf tournament, £210,000 for Prince Charles' charter to Oman, and nearly a quarter of a million for Harry and Meghan's tour of Africa.
