Meanwhile Nigel Farage was given his own show on the station, Ruth Davidson chose the fittingly pompous name Baroness Davidson of Lundin Links for the house of lords, and far right nutter Katie Hopkins flew to Australia for a broadcast gig then got fired.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock was pictured having an affair with an aide, Gina Coladangelo, breaching the social distancing rules he set for the general public. A year previously, Hancock was scathing about a government health adviser who resigned for the same reason. Prime Minister Boris Johnson accepted Hancock's apology and said he had full confidence in him. Meanwhile, a certain book was being crowdfunded...

Within a week of launching, advertisers on Andrew Neil's GB News began boycotting the new partisan rightwing channel. Guests included Neil Oliver ("lockdown is the biggest single mistake in world history") and one programme was called 'Woke Watch'. They were also picked up for some rookie broadcasting gaffes and atrocious spelling. Commentators suggested it wouldn't last more than a year.

Meanwhile Ruth Davidson, who was nominated for a life peerage, has not yet joined the House of Lords because she has not agreed on what she will be called. All suggestions welcome.

A Home Office immigration raid in Kenmure Street, Glasgow, had to be abandoned after over a thousand protesters rallied round, preventing their vehicle from leaving. A seven-hour stand-off followed, at the end of which the two targeted men were released. The BBC's report on the story lasted all of 25 seconds and consisted of a single tight shot around the van, making it appear as if there were only a handful of protesters present.
