The Conservatives may have won an overall majority UK-wide in the 2019 general election, but in Scotland, where they campaigned specifically on a 'no indyref2' ticket, they were trounced, the pro-indy SNP taking 48 of the 59 seats. The Libdems Scottish branch manager lost her seat, police are investigating an allegation that Jackson Carlaw voted twice, and Jeremy Corbyn said he would take his 'share of responsibility' for Labour's worst defeat since 1935.

Andrew Neil conducted a series of interviews with party leaders but Prime Minister Boris Johnson could not be pinned down to appear. At a separate leaders' debate on the topic of climate change, Johnson and Nigel Farage failed to show and were replaced with blocks of ice. Bizarrely, Johnson's father Stanley and Michael Gove arrived trying to take Bojo's place.

During a live debate between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn, the Conservative party press office renamed their Twitter account 'FactCheckUK' in a somewhat blatant attempt to dupe unsuspecting readers. Meanwhile Prince Andrew, in an ill-advised effort to cool the hostile reaction to his friendship with a convicted paedophile, gave a live TV interview and just made things much worse.

As the battle of the election buses commenced, Boris Johnson, referring to some Labour promise, used the word 'onanism' in a speech briefed to the press. The word was dropped when the speech was delivered. He also described Labour's free internet plan as a "crazed Communist scheme' and didn't know the words to the nursery rhyme "The wheels on the bus" at a pre-school photo op.

The Liberal Democrats kicked off their election campaign in a bus plastered with leader Jo Swinson's face. Swinson claimed both Labour and Tory MPs want her as PM and has since said 'I'm a genuine contender for Prime Minister'. She was roundly mocked on social media for being a delusional fantasist.
