According to Buckingham Palace, the honour “recognises Scottish men and women who have held public office or who have contributed in a particular way to national life”. Camilla's contribution is unclear.

An investigation into the Partygate scandal found that Boris Johnson misled parliament and recommended a lengthy suspension from the House of Commons. When Johnson was notified of the decision he immediately resigned as an MP and claimed, in true Trumpian style, that there was a “witch-hunt under way, to take revenge for Brexit and ultimately to reverse the 2016 referendum result”.

Gordon Brown's think tank 'Our Scottish Future' was given the lowest possible rating in an audit conducted by openDemocracy. It said: “The organisation publishes no information on its donors and lists a firm of solicitors as its main director. This makes it impossible to know for certain who controls or funds it.” The press, who slavishly report his every utterance, seem unwilling to raise this question, and I imagine the people behind the think tank are delighted about it.

The police arrested many peaceful protesters during the coronation of King Charles and erected giant barriers to osbcure anti-monarchy banners. We were all asked to make this promise: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.” Scotland mostly just laughed.
