In a promotional leaflet headed 'The Liberal Democrats are Winning', it was claimed that Scottish branch manager Alex Cole-Hamilton was "the most popular party leader in Scotland". I have no idea how they arrived at such a conclusion but it was unlikely to have been based on any kind of reality.

The excuses for No 10 parties kept coming. An ally of the Prime Minister said that a birthday gathering for him was not premeditated and that he was simply "ambushed with a cake”. When the SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford said in parliament, "The impending National Insurance tax hike hangs like a guillotine while they eat cake”, Johnson replied, "I don’t know who has been eating more cake". Meanwhile the long-awaited Sue Gray report into partygate was held back when the Metropolitan Police said they would be investigating after all, and that it should therefore contain minimal reference to the more serious matters. No, I don't understand either.

In response to this, Michael Gove said "he's in Elgin and the national Tory leader is in London", and Jacob Rees-Mogg said "Douglas Ross has always been a lightweight figure".
